Electrolysis is a method of removing individual hairs from the face or body for permanent hair removal. This method is preferred for women or men who have light, white, or grey hairs that can’t be seen by laser hair removal technology. Electrolysis devices destroy the growth center of the hair with chemical or heat energy. After a very fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle, the hair is removed with tweezers.
Most areas of the body can be treated with electrolysis. There are generally no permanent side effects, but sometimes a temporary, slight reddening of the skin may occur. At Missy’s Ink, our main focus for electrolysis is the face.
Myth: Electrolysis is very painful. For most people, today’s methods don’t cause a lot of pain, but it can hurt. If you find it too uncomfortable pain management is something you and Missy will discuss.
Do I have to let the hair grow out…ewwww!
I know it’s so hard… but the painful answer is “yes”. Missy needs to be able to see the hair in order to epilate it. It should be grown at least a centimeter above the skin. Usually, no shaving about 1-2 weeks prior to your first treatment should be good enough. I know it’s soooo hard… I get it!
Can hair grow back after electrolysis?
The treated hair will now grow back weaker and less coarse at first, and after subsequent treatments, will not grow back at all. Hormones, of course, the key culprit in excessive hair growth. … Electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal method.
